Job Description

To further develop, maintain, and strengthen IT platforms, we are looking for a senior DevOps engineer with deep expertise in OpenShift 4, Kubernetes, and Kafka, as well as extensive experience in managing mission-critical and security-classified IT infrastructure.

The assignment is placed in an environment with high demands for availability, security, and stability, where the platforms are a central part of the business. The contractor works in a team with both junior and senior colleagues and contributes operational responsibility, technical expertise, architectural understanding, and mentorship.

The team is responsible for container platforms (OpenShift/Kubernetes), the Kafka platform, and parts of monitoring and observability solutions based on, for example, Prometheus and Grafana. The contractor also collaborates with ongoing projects, other IT departments, and external suppliers.

The assignment includes both practical work in the platforms and more analytical, planned, and documentation-related tasks. This includes identifying needs, analyzing solutions, planning and implementing changes, and ensuring long-term and stable management.

Participation in on-call duty (24/7) according to a rotating schedule is included in the assignment.

Responsibilities

• Operation, management, and further development of OpenShift 4-based platforms in a cluster environment
• Operation and management of Kafka platforms for mission-critical systems
• Installation, configuration, and upgrading of OpenShift, Kubernetes, and related platform components
• Incident management, troubleshooting, and coordination of actions (2nd and 3rd line support)
• Planning and execution of upgrades, improvements, and changes
• Establishment of new environments and clusters as needed
• Work with CI/CD, automation, and Infrastructure as Code
• Participation in IT security work, including risk and vulnerability analyses and security improvements
• Coordination and execution of tests
• Documentation of systems, architecture, and operational and management guidelines
• Support and advice to internal and external stakeholders
• Knowledge transfer and mentorship within the team

Mandatory Requirements

• University degree in IT of at least 120 credits/180 ECTS, or at least five years of relevant IT work experience
• At least five years of experience working in a Linux environment, including installation, configuration, and upgrades of systems in the last 10 years
• At least four years of practical experience working with container platforms such as Kubernetes and/or OpenShift in a cluster environment over the last 10 years, including: daily IT operations and maintenance, troubleshooting and user support, further development, adaptations, and improvements
• At least four years of practical experience working with Apache Kafka
• At least five years of experience working with automation, configuration, and scripting, for example with Ansible, Bash/Shell, PowerShell, and YAML in the last 10 years
• At least five years of experience in IT operations of mission-critical infrastructure
• At least 1.5 years of experience in incident management and working on-call (24/7) in critical IT environments
• At least two years of experience working in a security-classified or security-sensitive IT environment, with requirements for structure, traceability, and information security applied in the operation and further development of IT platforms
• Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English

Desirable Requirements

• Experience working with OpenShift 4 in a security-critical or mission-critical production environment, where the work has significantly involved upgrades and incident management
• Experience participating in or driving work with technical architecture within container and platform solutions
• Experience in mentorship or knowledge transfer to other colleagues in technical teams
